DASH is non-proprietary, open housing-delivery infrastructure — blueprints, standards, and digital tools that are free to use. DASH Alberta, operated by Open Housing Canada, applies that infrastructure to Alberta's affordable-housing push: the province's Stronger Foundations strategy, its Affordable Housing Partnership Program, and the Alberta edition of the National Building Code.
Non-proprietary by design
Blueprints, BIM standards, and tools are published openly and free to use — no licence, no vendor lock-in.
Reviewed to Alberta's code
Alberta projects are reviewed against the National Building Code – 2023 Alberta Edition, in force province-wide since May 1, 2024, and registered through the DASH Alberta Project Tracker.
Fit for Alberta's partnership model
Alberta's Affordable Housing Partnership Program funds public, non-profit, and private providers for projects of five or more net new units, with the province contributing up to one-third of eligible cost. DASH's 3–6 storey typologies are built for exactly that scale.

An independent steward operates DASH Alberta, keeps the platform open, and maintains the open data behind it.

Housing need looks different in a Calgary neighbourhood, a northern Métis Settlement, a Treaty 8 First Nation, and a mid-sized city. DASH Alberta gives each a common set of tools and its own workspace — and names none of them as a partner until they choose to be.
Cities, towns & counties
Alberta's municipalities carry their own housing strategies — Calgary's Home is Here (2024–2030) and Edmonton's Affordable Housing Strategy (2023–2026) among them. DASH Alberta helps turn municipal targets into registered, trackable projects.
First Nations
Alberta is home to 48 First Nations across Treaties 6, 7 and 8. DASH Alberta is open to First Nation housing departments and organizations, on-reserve and off, with each community's data kept in its own workspace.
Métis Settlements
Alberta's eight Métis Settlements cover 1.25 million acres across the north and central-east, each with its own local government under the Metis Settlements Act. DASH Alberta is open to Settlement housing projects on the same terms as any other.
Providers & industry
Non-profit providers, housing management bodies, developers, architects, engineers, and Alberta manufacturers work from the same designs and data — through the Project Tracker and the Industry Tracker.

DASH answers a simple problem: build far more homes, far faster, without lowering the bar on quality, accessibility, or design. It is open, non-proprietary housing-delivery infrastructure, not a one-off project. DASH Alberta is that infrastructure founded for Alberta by Open Housing Canada, Scott Builders Inc., and Green Metrics Technology Corp., and operated by Open Housing Canada.
Standardize the parts, not the neighbourhoods
Housing is not slow because architects are slow. It is slow because every project re-solves the same technical problems in isolation — structure, envelope, servicing, egress, code compliance, procurement — and then re-negotiates them with a different regulator, a different consultant team, and a different supply chain.
DASH standardizes those repeatable parts and publishes them openly: designs, components, specifications, and data. What stays local is what should — the site, the community, the climate, and the architecture that responds to them.
Because the platform is shared, every partner inherits the work of the whole network. A detail refined on one project raises the quality floor for the next. That is how a single project becomes shared infrastructure for the whole of Alberta.

What DASH is
DASH — Digitally Accelerated Standardized Housing — is open, non-proprietary housing-delivery infrastructure: code-ready designs, prefabricated components, a common data standard, and the digital tools to run projects on them. Nobody licenses it; everybody in Alberta can use it.
Founding team
Open Housing Canada, Scott Builders Inc., and Green Metrics Technology Corp. form the DASH Alberta founding team. Open Housing Canada operates the platform and stewards its open data and housing intelligence; Scott Builders brings construction delivery; Green Metrics Technology builds the digital tools.

Registering does not publish anything. There is no public project browser, no scoreboard, and no aggregate counts — your project is not listed, not ranked against others, and not shared with other proponents.
Your registration goes to the DASH Alberta team only. You get your own readiness result on a private link; nobody else sees it. Registering does not create an application, a commitment, or an obligation on either side.

How DASH Alberta handles information
DASH Alberta is built around project and organizational data, not personal profiles. This page explains what the website and platform collect, why, and how to reach us about it.
Who operates the platform
DASH Alberta is operated by Open Housing Canada. Questions about privacy, or requests to see, correct, or remove information, go to dash@openhousingcanada.ca.
This website
The public site sets no advertising or analytics cookies. The contact form asks for your name, email, organization, role, region, and message; it is delivered by email to the DASH Alberta team and is not stored in a database by the form itself.
Project registration
Registering a project submits business information about the project and a contact email. Registrations are held in a review queue in the Project Tracker and become a tracked project only when the DASH Alberta team accepts them. Nothing about a registration is published.
Platform accounts
Platform sign-in stores your name, email, and role. Passwords are stored only as salted hashes. Sign-in events, including the time and IP address, are logged to protect accounts. The platform uses strictly necessary session cookies only.
Sharing and hosting
Information is not sold. It is shared only with the organizations you are working with on a project and with the service providers that host the platform and deliver its email. The platform is hosted on cloud infrastructure in the United States and all traffic is encrypted in transit.
Alberta privacy law
We work within Alberta's privacy legislation — the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act for public bodies and the Personal Information Protection Act for private-sector organizations — and with the privacy requirements of the Alberta municipalities, housing providers, and Indigenous governments that use the platform.
Retention and your choices
Contact messages are kept in the team mailbox. Account records are kept while an account is active. You can ask at any time to see, correct, or delete the information we hold about you, and we will confirm what was done.
Changes
This page was last updated in September 2026. If our practices change, the update will be posted here with a new date.
Accessibility at DASH Alberta
Open Housing Canada wants everyone who works on Alberta housing to be able to use this site and the DASH Alberta platform. We design to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA.
What is in place
Keyboard navigation for menus, pages, and forms; visible focus states; semantic headings and landmarks; text alternatives for images and icons; colour contrast checked against Level AA; text that can be resized; layouts that work on phones and tablets; and reduced motion when your system asks for it.
Known limitations
The 3D building viewer in the Pre-Construction Engine and the map views in the platform are visual tools that screen readers cannot fully describe; the same project data is available in tables and downloads. Some documents contributed by third parties are supplied as PDFs that may not be fully tagged.
